Announcement: Big Blog Changes

April 1, 2011

Big announcement: today, I’m making some big changes to the blog.

After a lot of careful thought and consideration, I’ve decided several important changes need to be made, including the following:

First of all, there’s going to be a shift in content.  I know I’ve built this platform on thoughtful and lighthearted talks about faith and culture.  But I’ve always wanted to write a blog about my real lifelong passion: homemade arts and crafts.  If you liked the blog before, just wait until you see what I have to say about the myriad of uses for googly eyes and popsicle sticks.

There’s going to be a lot more pictures on the blog too, especially of cats doing hilarious things, because I can never get enough cats.

I’ve also decided that blogging should be about making lots and lots of money, or there is just no point, so expect a lot of feel-good posts that pander to the broadest audience possible.  I know such platitudes won’t provide as much value to you, but don’t worry.  I’m adding lots of pop up ads for useful things.

I’ve really been missing all the crazy and hilarious animations that everyone forwarded a million times when the internet was new.  I feel the net have lost its way, and needs to get back to its roots.  Expect this blog to start kicking it old school with lots of dancing bananas, dancing babies, and really any other thing that dances.

Okay, none of that is true.  Happy April 1st.  My real announcement is to thank each of you for making March the biggest month ever here on my blog.  Really, this community never ceases to amaze me.  I am always encouraged, challenged, and humored by what you have to say back to me, and in talking with you via Facebook, Twitter and Skype.  If you haven’t connected with me via those networks, I hope you do right now.  I’m also always looking for ways to make the site better, other than dancing bananas.

  1. Hi Matt,
You mean this is all a joke?
You really do not intend to post more cat photos?
Then why should I bother to keep reading?
    I want my money back!

  4. This is the Society for the Prevention of Exploitation of and Cruelty to Cats (SPECC). We are launching an investigation of where and how you forced the cat in the photo to gnaw a cactus. Our sister organization, the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Bananas, has field a friend of the court brief as well, to ensure that the banana in question is receiving Actor’s Equity pay scale.

  7. I won’t lie…. I was freaking out a little around the “googly eyes and popsicle sticks” part. I’m glad it was only a joke.

  8. Actually, your comment reminded me of the time my toddlers visited the Lutheran church and came back with a craft of Jesus on a popsicle stick. Jesus Christ on a popsicle stick. Um, my husband thought it was hilarious but I just sort of rolled my eyes…

  9. For a minute there I thought you were going to steal my Sunday morning idea for posting mildly pornographic pictures of coal miners, since that day is usually so slow and could use a boost. Glad that one is still safe though.
